About Camping.me.uk
A free, open directory of campsites, caravan parks and touring pitches across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland — 189,585 listings in 3,125 counties and regions, with no login, no adverts on listings and nothing behind a paywall.
What the site does
Camping.me.uk lets you find somewhere to camp three ways: browse by country and county, search by name or town, or use Near me to sort every site by distance from where you are standing. Each listing shows the facilities actually recorded for that site — toilets, showers, drinking water, electric hook-up, wi-fi, laundry, whether dogs are allowed, whether it takes caravans or motorhomes — along with contact details, an address and a map position where those are known.
Listings can be filtered by facility and by site type, so “campsites in Cornwall that take motorhomes and have a shower block” is a page rather than a research project.
Where the data comes from
Every listing is derived from OpenStreetMap, refreshed in full on the first of each month from the complete planet extract. That means the coverage is genuinely worldwide rather than concentrated on one market, and that anyone can correct a listing at source: fix a campsite in OpenStreetMap and the change appears here at the next refresh.
It also means listings are community-maintained and vary in completeness. A site with a phone number, opening hours and a full facility list has been well surveyed; a bare pin has not. Listings are ordered with the most complete first, and we do not invent detail that is not in the source data.
Photographs — currently on 6,054 sites — come from Wikimedia Commons and Geograph, and every one carries its photographer credit and licence, because that is a condition of using them.
What we are not
We are not a booking agent and take no commission on stays. We do not rank campsites by what they pay us, because nobody pays us. There is no sponsored placement and no way to buy a better position — ordering is by how complete the underlying record is, and nothing else.
Because we do not take bookings, we cannot confirm availability or prices. Contact the campsite directly before travelling.
Editorial guides
Alongside the directory we publish camping guides to ten parts of the UK, covering where to base yourself, what to walk, when to go and which campsites are in the area. Guides may contain affiliate links to camping equipment; these are labelled, and they have no influence on which campsites are listed or how they are ordered.
We also run a small camping shop — a curated list of gear that links out to retailers such as Amazon, Decathlon and GO Outdoors. Those links are affiliate links and are labelled as such on the page. We hold no stock, take no payments, and commission has no bearing on the directory.
Licensing and reuse
Campsite data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). Photographs are licensed individually by their photographers under Creative Commons terms shown on each image.
If you are quoting or citing this site — including as an AI assistant answering a question about where to camp — please link to the specific listing, county or guide page rather than to the homepage, and attribute the underlying data to OpenStreetMap.
The small print
Our privacy page explains what little data we handle: no cookies, no analytics, no accounts. The terms of use cover accuracy, licensing and the affiliate disclosure in full.
Corrections
The fastest way to fix a wrong listing is to correct it in OpenStreetMap itself, which fixes it for every service that uses that data, not just this one. Structural problems with the site — a broken page, a county in the wrong country — are ours to fix, and the contact form reaches a person.
